Handling Plavix Claims Nationwide

Plavix (clopidogrel bisulfate), distributed by Sanofi-Aventis and Bristol-Myers Squibb, is the second best-selling drug in the world. Doctors commonly prescribe this anti-coagulant in combination with aspirin as a preventative measure against strokes, heart attacks, and to promote a healthy circulatory system. However, researchers have recently found that Plavix use can actually greatly increase the risk of a stroke, gastrointestinal bleeding, heart attack, and other serious conditions.
If you or a loved one has suffered any of these or other adverse Plavix side effects, you may be eligible to seek compensation for your losses. Please contact us to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney who can help you understand your legal rights and options -- free of charge.
Plavix Risks and Dangers
Plavix has been linked to an array of adverse side effects, which range in severity. Abdominal pain, coughing gout, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, pneumonia, severe headaches, sinus inflammation, and bone marrow damage have all been associated with Plavix use, but some of the most serious Plavix side effects include:Heart attack, stroke, and death – Plavix was lauded as a great drug that could prevent heart attacks and strokes better than aspirin, and with less gastrointestinal bleeding and fewer ulcers. Unfortunately, the opposite now seems true. A recent study has shown that Plavix actually doubles the risk of a heart attack or stroke in those with no history of major cardiac events. Researchers concluded that those who have never had a heart attack or stroke should avoid Plavix altogether.
Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) – TTP is a very serious blood-related condition that when left untreated has a 95 percent fatality rate. Plavix is one of the few drugs known to cause this rare disease.
Gastrointestinal bleeding – This is one of the more common and most serious Plavix side effects. A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine discovered that Plavix users are 12 times more likely to experience ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding -- especially users with a history of peptic ulcer disease (PUD) – than those who use low-dose aspirin therapy as a preventative measure.
Those whose cardiovascular health problems are limited to minor conditions like high cholesterol or high blood pressure should never use Plavix, as it offers no benefit over aspirin and other less dangerous treatments. Those who have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, liver disease, or blood disorders should also avoid Plavix.
If you or a loved one has suffered injury or harm because of a Plavix side effect, it is important to ensure that your legal rights are protected.
